- I was pleasantly surprized to booked for my soon to be world famous wine tours by 2 Russian ladies.
The departure was from their Sea Point hotel and our first stop was Villiera for a bubbly and nougat pairing. We also took advantage of the self guided tour of their cellar which was cleverly designed to ensure a good understanding of the wine making process.
Thereafter it was off to Babylonstoren for a walk through the recreated Cape gardens as well as a browse of the special artisanal products available. The highlight was the visit to the apiary where one could witness the bees going about their vital tasks.
The opportunity to snack on fruit such as guava and naartjies was fun.
As the trip is a tour of the Winelands we we were back on the road headed to Franschoek. It is essential for me to be able to offer a unique experience and I proposed a slight change of plan to visit La Motte. This was a inspired idea and my guests loved the interesting art and of course the wine!
We were running out of time and hastened to the village for a viewing of the Huegenot monument which was impressive as always.
A quickish meander of the art galleries was essential and the ladies picked up some great ideas regarding decorating spaces.
Though the weather was magnificent it was definitely getting cooler and the sun was setting when we reached Tokara for our final wine tasting.
We snagged the best seats in the house as we enjoyed the premium wine offerings well presented by our attentive wine host. They have a high quality range of olive oil and olives which were perfect for snacking with fresh bread.
The golden hour in the Golden triangle offered beautiful light for Photography and the ladies were in awe of the beauty of the Cape and of course Stellenbosch.
There was just enough time for a drive around the old part of the town to view the venerable churches and the cosmopolitan vibe of the pavement cafe scene.
Thereafter it was homeward bound with my guests committed to returning soon for a longer visit. Why not Be My Guest and join me for a tour?
