PAARL / FRANSCHOEK Wine Region

This area is fascinating due to the sprawling landscapes and contrasting terrain that changes from the flat expanses of outer limits of Cape Town to the distinctive Paarl mountain. Fairview and the Spice Route nestle on the outskirts of the old town, and are popular due to the attractions of being a working goat cheesery and an artisanal cove of amongst others, a brewery, chocolate makers and grappa distillery. The town is home to the world renowned K.W.V. who host a slick tasting room experience. The village of Franschoek is 15 minutes away and is idyllic for a meander, with antique shops in abundance . Close by and easily accessible by road or tram is the exceptional La Motte winery and fine dining establishment which has healthy competition from a number of French influenced eateries. There is also a number of renowned M.C.C.( S.A. version of Champagne) producers such as Simonsig and Villiera.
